Welcome centre is a special department helping foreigners with their first steps in Poland, here you will find help with legalizing your stay, dormitories, insurance or public transport.

Student Science Club (STN)
For many students, studying at the Medical University of Silesia can be a great start to a further scientific career. Belonging to the Student Science Club is a great opportunity to gain scientific achievements. Any research and scientific work can be successfully published in English-language journals, and, moreover, can be presented at STN Conferences in English-language sessions, which are highly scored.
Each Department has its own Student Science Club. If you are interested in joining a specific Department, please contact the secretary at the beginning of the academic year and ask for the contact details of the Head of the science club and apply to STN.
The main university library is located in Katowice, faculty branches are also on the campus in Zabrze-Rokitnica and the Dean’s Office building.
More information on contact details, opening hours and organization of the library can be found on the library’s website.
Please note that your student ID card is also your library card. For more information about the library system, how to borrow books etc. please visit the library website.
We offer accommodation for students at the dormitory located on the campus, within a walking distance from the basic science buildings in Zabrze-Rokitnica.
There is one dormitory building located at 19 Jordana Street (4-floor building), which offers accomodation.
Internet is accessible in all rooms.

National Health Fund insurance
Based on the Act of 27 August 2004 on healthcare services financed from public funds persons meeting certain requirements specified in the above mentioned Act are entitled for compulsory or voluntary health insurance in Poland.
If you are residing on the territory of Poland and are not entitled to use common healthcare services you can acquire the right to use healthcare services financed from public funds based on voluntary health insurance.
In order to conclude an agreement for voluntary health insurance please contact regional branch of National Health Fund (NFZ) to file an appropriate application and get familiar with detail terms for this procedure like required documents/statements, charges, premiums, etc.
